Battle of Tripoli Airport - 2014There isnt a great deal of strategy involved here and the military breakdown is not very clear. Essentially the battle took place place between 13 July – 23 August 2014 which was about 5 weeks. I have given the Zintani brigades 4 units, with 4 Libyan National Army back in Tripoli and the Libya Dawn coalition 12 units. They are all basic infantry. Whether they should be motorised or not could be relevent but until I actually have a better indication of the numbers of troops involved I think its better to be a little conservative. Further, I think this type of battle, like many modern military engagements is really more skirmish and irregular type activity, whether it warrants a map at all is something else. A lot of the belligerants are really nothing more than militias with seemingly minimal allegance to anyone. I have also added the Fursan Janzour militia as well as the National Mobile Forces which were engaged by Zintan's Barq al-Nasr Brigade, backed by Warshefana forces on 2 August 2015 around Janzour. The scenario at the least should give a clear idea of the geography. The Zintani brigades held their ground for some time and then retreated to Tripoli (by order of parliament) after which the Libya Dawn coalition razed the airport and then advanced on Tripoli where more conflict occurred. The airport is still unsued and flights now leave from Mitiga International Airport which is to the East of Tripoli and marked on the map.
