First South Ossetian War - 1991, South Ossetia, Middle EastlinkThe war started in 5 January 1991 and ended in 24 June 1992 with significant lulls as ceasefires were brokered and broken. The most intense conflict took place in March and Arpil 1991. There were three main attacks on Tskhinvali but the Georgians later withdrew. THe Russians became involved in February 1992. However, when Gamsakhurdia was ousted in March 1992 and then later Georgia became involved in a greater war with Abkhazia they agred to the Sochi agreement which split control of South Ossetia. I have assumed 2 week turns with 36 turns for the whole war which brings Russian units in around turn 28.
