Battle of Alasay - 2009This is was a small operation codenamed Operation Dinner Out. The fighting took place over 4 days while engineers built 2 bases for the Afghanistan Army. I have included air support but kept it minimal. Of course the main feature here is that its all in mountain with only 1 road and a river valley. There might be scope for a few hill or plain or desert hexes along the valley, but when looking at it on Google maps it really is just mountain. The ISAF forces are quite specific although the Wikipedia article doesnt look very consistent. This is an interesting game as there isnt really any proper wargame objective. The battle lasted 4 days so in theory if you last more than 4 days then you win. But what did they do in 4 days? Put some sandbags down? And then what? Did they leave? Or did the Taliban give up as the Wikipedia article suggests? Anyway, the focus is on the ISAF defending their position and the Taliban assaulting it. The artillery rules are still rudimentary so they cant attack further than 1 hex which is limiting.
